Newcastle West "B" 2 - Ferry Rangers 3

U14 collect all points in Newcastle

Ferry travelled to Newcastle on Saturday, with both of these teams sharing top spot in the league.

Shane Heffernan knew this was an important game for the season.

Ferry started brightly playing some great football but not getting shots on target.

Then against the run of play Newcastle broke up the field and scored.

In fairness to the lads no head dropped and they just had to try harder, and the reward came soon after when a cross by Shane Quinn was headed by a Newcastle player into their own net.

All square at the interval, but Ferry mentors still confident of win and put this into the mind of the players.

Another great attack by Ferry down the wing got the ball accross but Newcastle headed clear.

Again it was Shane Quinn the ball fell to his feet on the verge of the box and he drove it to the roof of the net. Quinn always seemed to score the spectacular goal (Beckham style).

The game was still poised nicely as Newcastle hadn't stopped to pile on pressure. Jamie O'Mahony was introduced up front and straight away he made an impact by firing off a shot but narrowly wide.

About ten minutes later though he was on target from close range, typical goal scorer around the box.

Newcastle got a free kick with minutes left and scored.

Ferry defended well and finished the game, coming away with the win.

Keep it going lads....................
