Ferry Rangers 3 - Broadford B 2

06 Mar 2010

U10 Cup

The manager of this team Alfred Mc Donnell has made great improvements with these players. It was a sunny spring day in Tarbert in the first round of the Cup. Noel Allen got proceedings underway and a good crowd had arrived. Both sides started nervously but our two midfielders had always been on top. Cillian Langan with that sweet left leg was capable of passing that ball around with confidence and with that scored a brilliant goal. His partner Ciaran Ahern with his strength and class when I see him nutmeg an oncoming player at ease. Credit must also go to the Broadford keeper who had a fine game to pull off a brilliant after a grat run by Ahern. A mistake in defence for Ferry allowed Broadford to score in the first half. 1 - 1 at the interval and if the first half was good the second half was even better. The Ferry defence was solid with Matthew Finucane a powerhouse . A clever corner from Ferry saw Langan hit the crossbar. Ferry now dominating the play but failing to score, and then Broadford break up the field to score . This could have knocked alot of teams but not this team , they kept trying and evenually the breakthough came when Ciaran Ahern took along range shot to hit the corner of the net. The teams now level the excitment was brilliant and the crowd enjoying it. Langan again produced the goods when he got hold of the ball in midfield and swing that left foot to the roof of the net. Three minutes left and some tough defending to do . Ferry stood strong and a brilliant save from Dara Kissane in goal for Ferry put us through to the next round of the Cup . A great display by all the players and well done . hopefully there will be more displays like this today.
