Youths League Cup

A thrilling encounter away from home in the Semi final of the league cup. Newcastle had the upper hand coming into this game on Saturday having home advantage and having previously beaten Ferry in Tarbert in the league. Ferry management (D.Flavin and M.Griffin) probably learned more from that encounter and had made some switches to this starting eleven.

But Ferry didn't get the start they wanted when after 10 minutes Newcastle put a great move together to score. Ferry to give them credit didn't let this effect them and bounced right back. Ferry were awarded a free kick on the left wing, David Langan stood up to slot to the far corner of the net.

Every ball was hard won as tackles were tough and very little time on the ball. Then Ferry were forced to make changes due to injuries to Denis Gallagher and Mauny Tydings. But all credit to the the Ferry Panel they always give 100% for each other.

Ferry in the second half were unlucky not to score from a shot from Ger O'Sullivan and Kenneth Tydings.

Into extra time and players getting tired its always a worry but our defence held strong especially Seamus Gallagher who had an outstanding game. Conor Flavin was superb in midfield with McCarthy and Carmody.

Penalty shoot outs are always a lottery but we having the talent of Shane O'Sullivan in goals was brilliant.

Shane actually took the first penalty himself to score and later saved two the clinch the final place for Ferry.

Others to score in penalties Ian Flavin , Liam McCarthy , Kenneth Tydings.
