Ferry hosted Div 1 side Broadford last Saturday in Tarbert. Pitch in good order and weather dry and fresh. The ref Pat King got the game underway @11.30. Ferry knew they had to start in a positive manner and it showed from the start. The away team didn't get any time to settle on the ball. Great work in the middle of the field by Danny Stack creating some good chances for players around him. The first goal came from a true ball from Stack whick found Daniel O'Sullivan whom pressed forward and shot to the roof of the net. Shortly after Ferry scored the second when Daragh Foley was fouled in the opposing half and Stack took the free kick. David Louis type free kick flew to the net. Two nil up but you knew the Div 1 side could fight back in the second half.
Broadford came at Ferry's defence strongly. The Ferry central defender Eoghan O'Connor and goalkeeper Sheehan having to work very hard to try and keep Broadford at bay. But the gates could not be kept closed as Broadford scored 2 to carry the game to extra time.
The Ferry players now on their last legs kept trying for all their worth but again luck went Broadford for their to score the third. Ferry came close when Evan Collins headed just over from a corner. Ferry did not give up and tried everything to score but to no avail. This was a gallant performance by all players and Management. It was good to see a big following for Ferry at the game.
