Ferry Rangers 3 - Kilcornan 4

06 Oct 2013

Senior League

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. The best way to describe the game.

Ferry short some key players started brightly, playing some beautifull football. The best player on the field was the young Shea Mc Donnell that Ferry Management started for the first time. This tall 16 year old was controling midfield. He even scored the first goal for Ferry, when he got behind the Kilcornan defence and he cooly chipped the keeper. But unfortunatly this wasn't going to be all good for young Shea. A high ball delivered to the Kilcornan box found Shea and the Kilcornan keeper contesting in mid air. Shea came off the worst in the collision and fell heavily to the ground. Shea had been concussed in the fall and had to be removed to Hospital for check up. Our best wishes to Shea. On the restart of the game Ferry scored 2 goals within 10 minutes. First from Niall Foley followed by Pat Healy. But just before halftime Kilcornan got one back.

Early in the second half we should have scored again but drove narrowly wide on several occassions.

This allowed Kilcornan to battle on and eventually they scored. Kilcornan now increasing the pace and with their extra fittness and speed caused Ferry fierce problems. Shane Heffernan as stand in Keeper made some terriffic saves but to no avail. Kilcornan scored the equaliser with 10 minutes to go.

Ferry hanging on for a draw but their legs had gone, concentration poor from tiredness and sub bench empty.

Our hearts broken in the last minute when Kilcornan got a free kick outside the box. Great freekick that hit the net.

We just have to move onto next week and lift the heads again.

But Most important we wish Shea McDonnell all the best in his recovery
