Adare Utd 0 - Ferry Rangers 2

13 Oct 2013

Senior - Ferry - League

Ferry travelled to Adare last Sunday with a good squad of players looking to get back to winning ways in the league. Weather conditions beautifull and grounds in perfect shape, football was going to be fast and furious.

Adare started the much brighter in fast play and their midfield completely controlling the game. They were really piling on the pressure and Ferry narrowly escaped going a goal behind at several stages. Especially from a free header by the Adare winger that just went narrowly wide, also Ferry cleared off the line. Our back four stood strong and worked well together. Midway through the half Ferry changed tactics in midfield and this improved their game. Adare domination had come to an end. The game scoreless at half time, the Ferry management team knew further improvement was required and this was captured in the team talk.

The second half got under way and Ferry started in attacking mood. Foley and Flavin giving the Adare defence a hard time. Ferry eventually forced a corner, and it was from the corner that Kevin Enright the power midfielder drove home. This didn't stop Adare from attacking and again came close to scoring. The move of the game almost gave a fantastic goal only for the crossbar to save Adare.

Ferry won the ball in midfield and pushed it wide, with some fine combination play got the ball accross the box. Niall Foley kept his eye on the ball and hit a brilliant volley with his left that was deserving of a goal only to hit the woodwork.

But minutes later Foley got his goal when he got inside the Adare defense and he rolled the ball home.

At 2 nil Ferry closed up shop and came home with a win that was badly needed.

Great display in second half, well done lads.
